A sharing session with an Hafiz and Hafizah from Indonesia – both with different abilities – was held at the Learning Development Centre, Suri Seri Begawan (SSB) Hospital, Kuala Belait yesterday.

Muhammad Naja Hudia Afifurrahman Agusfian who memorised 30 Juzuk of Al-Quran within 10 months when he was only eight years old, has won numerous competitions, despite being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at an early age.

Meanwhile, Nur Syahwa Syakhila binti Muhammad Sabhan who has been visually impaired since birth, was able to memorise 30 Juzuk of Al-Quran when she was 10.

The two accompanied by their parents, were welcomed along with other delegates from Indonesia by Head of Religious Officer in the Belait District Mohammad Noorsuffian bin Haji Yahya.

Acting Belait District Officer Mohamad Yassin bin Haji Ahmed was the guest of honour.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of SSB Hospital Mohammad Alikhan bin Haji Md Yakop, Principal of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Mariam Kuala Belait Nurusssadatul binti Firdaus Saifulbahri, and President of SMARTER Brunei Pengiran Zamri bin Pengiran Haji Bujang were also present.

During a dialogue session chaired by Haji Abdul Afiq bin Zainuddin from the Belait District Islamic Studies Department and Nurhuwaina binti Mamud from the Belait District Dakwah Office, the Hafiz and Hafizah shared their passion and recited various Juzuk of Al-Quran.

The parents of Muhammad Naja and Nur Syahwa Syakhila also shared their children’s journey, challenges faced and how they overcame them in memorising and reciting Al-Quran.

The Belait District Religious Affairs Office hoped the session has inspired others to start memorising and enhance their Al- Quran recitation regardless of ability.
