An individual was fined BND1,000 by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) for disposing used plastic containers and tarp near the riverside of Kampong Kuala Balai, Mumong.
Mak Tai Loi was fined under Chapter 12(1) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021 and given seven days to pay the fine or face court action.
If convicted in court, the fines will range from BND1,000 to BND3,000 for the first offence, and up to BND9,000 or six months in prison for repeat offences.
The department reminded the public of their responsibility to keep the surrounding environment clean. – Daniel Lim
