The Youth Transformation Community Club (KKBT) recently organised a petanque technique activity at the Petanque Court of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in an initiative to attract members to join the Brunei Darussalam Petanque Federation (BDPF).

The activity, held in conjunction with the Day of Action (DOA) campaign, also aimed to introduce and promote the sport to the KKBT members in addition to efforts to spread interest among the community.

The initiative, which drew the participation of 80 youth and leaders, received encouraging response from President of BDPF Haji Mohamad bin Panglima Asgar Dato Paduka Haji Abdullah.

The activity helped raise the spirits of KKBT members.

Members will also be attending training sessions, which will be conducted by experienced coaches.

The activity is also one of the proactive steps in the process of transformation towards realising the vision of making KKBT members to be active in sports.

Petanque is an alternative to a number of sports which can be found in the country. Individuals who lack physically, fitness, stamina and concentration can venture in this sport.

The sport promotes the concept of lifelong fitness where the factors of age and body strength are not a measure of advantage to a player.

Players of all ages from children to the elderly can master the sport well and wisely as it is very easy to learn.

It does not require much movement as the game is played in a small court measuring 15×4 metres at a minimum.
