Immigration officer faces bribery charges

An immigration officer was charged with two counts of corruption in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Mohammad Shukran bin Haji Jaidin, 49, Chief Immigration Officer at the Entry Permit Section of the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), is accused of attempting to obtain a BND1,500 bribe from a 56-year-old permanent resident on March 17.
