As the nation observes the national level Israk Mikraj celebration with a gathering at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas today, imams during the Friday sermon said Israk Mikraj entails various lessons and examples including the importance of cleansing and purifying the soul and spirit or repentance.
“We must repent, perform the prayers of repentance and recite Istighfar, and perform Taubat Nasuha,” imams said.
“If the sin is between the servant and Allah the Almighty, he must abandon the sin and transgression, feel regret for committing the sin and be resolved to not repeat it. If it is related to the rights of others, sinners must return the person’s rights and apologise.”
Meanwhile, in wake of the recent earthquake that struck Turkiye and Syria, imams called on Muslims to reflect, pray for their well-being and to donate to the victims.
Donation boxes have been placed at mosques, suraus and prayer halls; and at designated places nationwide. The public can also donate via SMS Brunei Prihatin.
