Illegal car workshop dismantled after public complaints

An illegal car workshop in Kampong Jerudong was demolished after the Department of Town and Country Planning ordered its activities ceased, following public complaints.

It also ordered the building extension to be dismantled for violating Section 23 (2) of the Town and Country Planning Order (TCPO) 2015, for conducting activities and constructing building extensions without permission from the Planning Authority.

The department said the land is only for residential purposes, and the unauthorised activities had caused discontent and affected the well-being of the neighbouring
residential lots.

The department said the order to cease activities and remove the extension was complied with, and the cars surrounding the workshop had been removed from the area. The public is reminded to comply with the planning laws, in particular Section 23 of the TCPO 2015, which provides that no person shall carry out the development, subdivision or consolidation of any land or carry out any work in a conservation area without permission from the Planning Authority.

For any complaints and planning advice, the public may contact the Department of Town and Country Planning hotline at 8200 222.
