Iftar treat for Belait’s Bangladeshi workers

THE Labour Wing of the Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei Darussalam recently hosted an Iftar ceremony at the Ballroom of Serikandi Restaurant, Kuala Belait.

The event saw over 120 attendees from the Belait District and was aimed at establishing a closer relationship between the high commission and the Bangladeshi expatriates which includes a majority of the labour force in the country.

The event was also an opportunity to exchange views between the attendees with regard to the current working situation in the district while sharing meals as they prepared to break their fast.

The guest of honour was the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam Air Vice Marshal Mahmud Hussain who was accompanied by Haji Supri, Senior officer of the Immigration Department, Belait District and as well as officers in the Belait District.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a welcoming address by the guest of honour as well as advice on safety and security at the workplace to the Bangladesh work force. The Bangladesh High Commission will host a Hari Raya Aidilfitri event at the high commission for Bangladeshi expats and those who would like to experience Bangladeshi Eid cuisine and culture, five days after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
