The Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Business Campus launched its IBTE Innovative Project and Swish! drink at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital yesterday.
Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, the guest of honour, officiated the launch.
Also in attendance was Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid @ Sabli bin Haji Arshad, the Chairman of Sabli Group of Companies and a member of IBTE’s Board of Governors.
Head of IBTE Entrepreneurs Club Md Faiz Afifuddin bin Md Jaffar Sahah in his welcoming remarks said that students taking the Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation module of the HNTec in Business and Finance programme are aware that they will face challenges from time to time in their entrepreneurship journey.
Through their learning at IBTE, they have been given the opportunity to be prepared with current technologies, technical and vocational skills as well as entrepreneurship activities. Md Faiz Afifuddin said, “As a generation of visionary youth, we need to step forward to answer this challenge and get out of our comfort zone to venture into entrepreneurship.”
Apart from learning business know-how and production from their lecturers and the industry, the students were also given guidance and support in running real business and learnt on the importance to equip themselves with life skills such as teamwork.
Md Faiz Afifuddin extended appreciation to Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid @ Sabli for the support and opportunities to use his company’s factory to process Swish! drink. The drink is solely distributed by the club and it is also incorporated as part of the pedagogy for the Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation module.
The IBTE Entrepreneur Club was established to provide students taking the Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation module an avenue to learn the process of manufacturing, sales and distribution as part of IBTE Business Campus efforts to provide an authentic learning environment for the students, while the existing IBTE Youth Enterprise Services (YES) Centre focusses on retail business operations.
