Berakas Power Company Sdn Bhd (BPC) awarded its first i-Usahawan contract to Al-Fayyadh Management Sdn Bhd yesterday.
BPC Chief Executive Officer Stephen Turner signed on behalf of BPC while Al-Fayyadh Management Sdn Bhd was represented by its Director Zainatul Yusrin bin Haji Omar. The signing was held at BPC Headquarters in Terunjing, Berakas.
Al-Fayyadh Management will provide cleaning services to BPC’s facilities for three years as well as employment opportunities to seven locals.
The i-Usahawan programme is an initiative introduced by the Ministry of Energy to provide business opportunities for aspiring local youth entrepreneurs to participate in low-risk contracts or tenders with private companies, government-linked companies (GLCs), statutory bodies and the public sector.
The programme was launched by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on August 1, 2018 in conjunction with the 13th National Youth Day 2018 celebration.
Through the programme, youth entrepreneurs undergoes small-and-medium-enterprise (SME) training offered by DARe (Darussalam Enterprise) prior to the participation in tenders.
