Hybrid webinar discusses corridor markets

Standard Chartered Bank Brunei and Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia jointly hosted a hybrid webinar at Serambi Batil, Tarindak D’Seni in Bandar Seri Begawan for its clients.

The webinar focussed on the outlook for Malaysia as well as the bank’s network capabilities.

The bank’s Chief Executive Officer Pengiran Aki Ismasufian bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim said, “As the only major international bank in Brunei with a presence in all 10 ASEAN markets, we continue to help our clients tap into opportunities not only within the region but with key corridor markets as well.

Meanwhile, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Abrar A Anwar addressing the audience in the opening session said, “Strong bilateral relations between Malaysia and Brunei have been rooted since January 1984. Our two countries continue to maintain this relationship and we believe this will grow stronger based on our deep understanding of each other, which is the result of a friendly relationship characterised by many similarities in culture, language and religion, especially in Borneo where our borders are connected in East Malaysia.

“Our bilateral relationship is diverse, with active and cooperative relations across a broad range of sectors. These include trade and investment, defence, education, and health.”

International Student Recruitment Officer of Curtin University Malaysia Jeffery Peter Goh shared the prospect of studying in Malaysia. This was followed by a presentation from Registered Valuer under Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agent, Malaysia of CH Williams Talhar Wong & Yeo Sdn Bhd Robert Ting Kang Sung who presented the outlook on Real Estate in Sarawak, Malaysia. Miri Branch Manager of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Lawrence Lee Chon Phin shared on banking capabilities for Brunei clients.
