The Court of Appeal upheld the Intermediate Court’s sentence of 33 months’ jail and two canings given to a housebreaking offender recently.

Mohammad Izzat bin Mohd Yunus will be serving three years’ jail sentence.

He entered a house, occupied by a brother and sister aged 15 and 17, and stole a laptop and cash on December 14, 2016.

The siblings called their mother when they realised someone had broken into the house. The mother’s arrival caused the defendant, who was with two other men, to run away with the stolen property.

DPP Raihan Nabilah binti Haji Ahmad Ghazali represented the Public Prosecutor.
