A house and a vehicle parked near a house were destroyed in a fire at Kampong Negalang, Temburong District on Monday. No injuries were reported.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), 15 firefighters from the Bangar Fire Station, led by ASO Ahmad bin Haji Kassim, responded to the incident at 4.40pm. The firefighters extinguished the fire with two jet hoses to prevent it from spreading to nearby houses. The cause and estimated cost of damages are under investigation.

Commanding Officer of ‘G’ Operation Temburong SSFR Haji Afiq bin Haji Julah and Station Commander of Bangar Fire Station SO Jamaluddin bin Ahmad oversaw the operation.

The FRD reminded the public to ensure their homes are equipped with fire extinguishers, fire blankets and battery-operated smoke detectors.

Any installation of wiring and electrical equipment must be conducted by qualified technicians while electrical appliances should be switched off after use, the FRD added.

In the event of a gas leakage, the FRD advised the public to open windows and doors for ventilation.
