RESIDENTS of a wooden house at Kampong Lurong Dalam, Mukim Burung Pingai, Kampong Ayer awoke to a watery shock at dawn on Wednesday after their home collapsed and was partially submerged in the river.
The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) received a distress call at 5.09am and dispatched a rescue boat from the Pelancaran Fire Station carrying seven personnel to the scene to assist.
All house occupants were evacuated before the rescue boat arrived.
No one was injured.
A total of 11 people were staying in the house, owned by Norrysma bin Mohd Idris.
Firefighters are investigating to make sure that no one else was left following the collapse.
The cause of the collapse is under investigation.
The Fire and Rescue Department urged the public to ensure that the pillars of their houses are strong and in good condition and that their houses are safe to live in.
Otherwise they need to evacuate their homes.
The public should contact the Fire and Rescue Department at 995 and provide accurate information during emergencies.
