A house at Kampong Sungai Panga of Mukim Sungai Kebun collapsed on Thursday.

Firefighters found that thinning poles caused the house, made of concrete poles and walls, wooden floors, and a spandek roof, to collapse.

The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) deployed seven personnel led by DSO Haji Sapar and two fire engines from the Sungai Kebun Fire Station after it received a distress call around 6.25pm.

The house owned by a local man was rented to Bangladeshi workers. They were turned over to the immigration and labour departments for further action.

Firefighters ensured that no one was trapped, while the estimated loss is yet to be determined.

Commander of Sungai Kebun Fire Station, Royal Brunei Police Force personnel, Electrical Services Department, Village Head of Sungai Kebun, Brunei-Muara District Officer, and immigration and labour departments officers were present during the investigation.

The FRD urged the public to ensure that the condition of their house is stable and secure.

The FRD said if it is found that house poles are not stable, the house should be vacated immediately.

The public can contact FRD’s Operation Centre at 995 during an emergency.
