Hotel brings Philippines flavours to Brunei

Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam is currently hosting a Filipino food festival, ‘Barrio Fiesta’, which kicked off yesterday and will run until December 7.

The festival showcases a diverse buffet of traditional Filipino dishes, from hearty balbacua to the comforting sweetness of halo-halo. All these are prepared under the creative direction of Chef Arnel from Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu.

Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam General Manager Miriam Wolber said, “We are delighted to present Barrio Fiesta and invite food enthusiasts as well as the local community to join us where every bite tells a story and every moment is a celebration.”

Philippines Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Marian Jocelyn R Tiro-Ignacio, commended the hotel’s initiative. “The Embassy of the Philippines commends Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam for their wonderful initiative on hosting this exciting Barrio Fiesta, a celebration that beautifully showcases Filipino culture and fosters greater understanding and connection within the vibrant community of Brunei Darussalam,” she said.

The ambassador added, “Barrio Fiesta not only celebrates the flavours of the Philippines but also the stories and traditions behind it. Each dish is made authentic by the skilled hands of Chef Arnel to ensure every bite is a genuine taste of the Philippines.”

She further emphasised the strong historical ties between Brunei and the Philippines, stating, “Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines share a deep history of mutual respect and cultural exchange. It is events like this that enrich and strengthen our relationship.” – James Kon
