Host of attractions at open day

The aim of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan’s (KUPU SB) Open Day is to provide an opportunity for the public to obtain information on courses and programmes being offered by the university college and to learn more about KUPU SB’s academic and co-curriculum activities, said Acting Registrar Haji Sufri bin Kurus in his capacity as Secretary of the Working Committee for KUPU SB Open Day.

The open day will be held from today to February 28 from 8am-4pm.

Haji Sufri said around 800 people including academicians of KUPU SB, post graduate, bachelor’s degree and diploma students as well as strategic partners of KUPU SB such as government and private agencies and foreign diplomats will participate in this year’s open day.

“The open day also aims to encourage students of KUPU SB to actively get involved not only in the field of academic, but also activities such as uniformed organisations, enhance their self-esteem development which is in-line with the core courses being carried out by the university college,” he said.

The open day will enable participants to interact directly with lecturers and officers of KUPU SB. An exhibition showcasing students’ involvement in academic, co-curriculum, uniformed activities as well as entrepreneurship activities will also be held.

Core Knowledge Centre Director Kharhan bin Haji Jait as the Deputy Chairman of Working Committee for KUPU SB Open Day explained that other activities including static exhibition by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), entrepreneurship expo, i-Usahawan briefing and fire safety education, workshop on curriculum vitae (CV) writing, cultural performance from foreign diplomats including the Embassy of the Royal Kingdom of Thailand in Brunei Darussalam’s ‘Thailand Day’ on February 28 will be held.

KUPU SB offers various academic programmes including PhD in Religious Teaching and Masters Degree in Religious Teaching in various fields including Usuluddin, Syariah, History and Islamic Civilisation, Religious Education, Arabic Language and Higher Diploma in Religious Teaching.

Also offered are Diploma in Kitab Turath Learning, Jawi Skills Writing and Calligraphy as well as Diploma in Fiqh Al-Usrah.

Director of International Office and Public Relation Dayangku Siti Katijah binti Pengiran Sulaiman as the head of Media and Publicity Section was also present.
