SEVERAL events and activities have been confirmed to further enliven the much-anticipated Brunei December Festival (BDF) 2018 next month.
This was revealed during a press conference held with organisers yesterday at the Brunei Tourism Board, the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.
The first announcement was on three major activities hosted at Jerudong Park (JP) Playground by Assistant Officer for Sales, Marketing and Events team from Jerudong Park Pengiran Mohd Fa’iq Izzuddin bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Airudin.
Pengiran Mohd Fa’iq Izzuddin outlined three main activities beginning with the ‘Animals in the Park’ which started since November 1 and will continue until December 30. This is followed with the ‘Story of Lights’ which will begin on December 1 and ‘JP Movie Night’ which will be held every Saturday from December 8.
Members of the public are welcome to get up close with their favourite animals, especially majestic birds, fluffy pets and reptiles, at the ‘Animal in the Park’, held inside the park near the JP Colonnade area.
For the first time, Jerudong Park will organise the ‘Story of Lights’ to experience light displays at night which will be paired with folklore stories to encourage reading among children. More details will be revealed closer to date.
The final activity is the popular ‘JP Movie Night’, an outdoor event with vendors at the JP Colonnade field area to watch a variety of films suitable for all ages.
Pengiran Mohd Fa’iq Izzuddin advised the public to bring along blankets, cushions or beanbags to make it a comfortable experience.
Apart from these activities, he also announced that the playground will operate an extra day, on Wednesday, for the public to enjoy the playground and activities in conjunction with BDF 2018, adding, “JP now operates five days a week for the December school holiday period compared to the usual four days a week”.
Meanwhile, Nurbadi’ah Event Management will organise a ‘Weekend Charity Bazaar in the City’ every Saturday and Sunday starting tomorrow at Lapau parking lot in Bandar Seri Begawan.
According to General Manager Siti Fatmah binti Haji Jair, the bazaar will highlight different themes every week including home decorations, ‘One Village, One Product’, educational and cultural fair as well as local performances from various associations. The BDF 2018 will also be enlivened with the Charity Fruit Festival 2018 organised by Fadhzunnisa Event Management from December 26 from 9am to 9pm at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
Event Manager Farinawati binti Haji Amit welcomed all members of the public to enjoy the varieties of locally grown fruits as well as exotic fruits from neighbouring countries.
She added that the aims of the Charity Fruit Festival is to promote local fruits during “fruit season” while providing an opportunity for local farmers to sell their produce.
