Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin launched the Youth Centre Golden Jubilee Festival to mark its 50th anniversary yesterday. The ceremony was held at the Youth Centre in the capital.
The event was organised by Excel Event Planning in collaboration with the Department of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS). The festival will be held until this Sunday.
Acting Director of Youth and Sports Mariam binti Ulat said the festival aims to commemorate the opening of the Youth Centre that provides a platform for youth to conduct activities and programmes providing positive development. “Through this festival, the community, particularly the youth, will learn more of the programmes offered and maximise the usage of the facilities provided to gather youth in the centre,” she said.
The activities that will be carried out throughout the festival include stage performances, exhibitions, traditional games, beauty courses and workshops, cooking demonstrations, sports and recreational activities, swimming pool activities, discussions, basic IT, Al-Quran recitation classes and many others.
Mariam hoped that the festival will be able to disseminate information across the community on the role of the Youth Centre.
The event continued with the presentation of the Projek Berbagi Rezeki assistance to Kampong Bendahara Lama fire victims. It concluded with a Doa Selamat.
