The Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam (PIHM) Hospital in the Temburong District yesterday received a contribution of 10 wheelchairs, in a handover ceremony at the hospital’s lobby area.

The wheelchairs were presented by representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam Andrew HC Lee; Chairman of the Taiwan Business Association in Brunei Darussalam Yap Ong Chuan, and Vice-Chairman of the Taiwan Graduates Association of Brunei Darussalam Alex Lo.

Medical Superintendent of PIHM Hospital Dr Haji Mohammad Ady Adillah bin Haji Ahmad, and Medical Clerk of PIHM Hospital Aisah binti Haji Jumat received the contribution. Last April, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office and the two associations contributed 174 wheelchairs for their joint charity campaign.

Out of the total, 40 were contributed to the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital in Bandar Seri Begawan, 60 to the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in the Tutong District, and 60 to the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in the Belait District.

The remaining wheelchairs will be donated to private charity groups and organisations.

The charity campaign reflects the corporate social responsibility of the entrepreneurs affiliated with the associations.
