THE ‘Tourist Accommodation Standard – Homestay PBD31:1026’ roadshow held on Wednesday aimed to educate participants on criteria to ensure service quality and facilities are in accordance with the standards.
The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) held the roadshow at the Theatre Hall, Brunei-Muara District Office.
The Tourist Accommodation Standard – Homestay PBD31:2016 is according to criteria present in the ASEAN Homestay Standard and also by taking into account the condition of the homestay in Brunei Darussalam.
The Standard was issued by the ‘Technical Committee on Tourist Accommodation Standard’ through the Tourism Standard Committee on January 24, 2018.
The roadshow was a continuation of the Tourism Development Department ini-tiative to educate the public on the Tourist Accommodation Standard – Homestay PBD31:2016 which serves as a guideline for homestay accommodation in Brunei Darussalam.
Present at the roadshow were the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi), mukim penghulus, village heads as well as representative members from village consultative councils in the Brunei-Muara District.
Officers from the Tourism Development Department, MPRT and the National Standard Centre, Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry conducted the briefing.
Owners of unregistered accommodation homestays were reminded to register at the third floor, Tourism Development Department, MPRT Building during office hours.
The Tourism Development Department held similar roadshows in the Belait District on August 6 and Tutong District on September 18.
The roadshows were held in collaboration with the National Standard Centre, Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry, and District Offices, Ministry of Home Affairs.
