HIV awareness programme for new intake

Around 200 new students at the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Nakhoda Ragam Campus participated in the Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council (BDAIDSCouncil) HIV Awareness Programme for Peers and Youth (HAPPY) during an orientation programme on Saturday.

BDAIDSCouncil President Iswandy bin Ahmad shared the latest local statistics on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and teenage pregnancy, highlighting the age and gender dominating the statistics.

The president said the figures can be curbed by abstaining as part of preventing the youth from getting involved in behaviour that can lead to the STIs infection, getting pregnant outside of wedlock or early marriage.

The council also hoped that the students will bring home the message of the programme and incorporate it into their lives.
