The people of Brunei Darussalam should be grateful for having a ruler who is fair, wise, loving and caring, while prioritising the masses’ welfare, benefits and well-being, said a preacher of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) of the Ministry of Religious (MoRA) Affairs Hamzah bin Haji Jali from the RPN Lambak Kanan Mosque.
Obeying the ruler (ulil amri) is one of the characteristics of the faithful and pious, and a sign of obedience to Allah the Almighty and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), he said in a religious talk or Tazkirah titled Taat Ulil Amri (Loyal to Ulil Amri) at the Munajat night on Saturday.
The talk was delivered in conjunction with the 77th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
“His Majesty is known for being a monarch who is concerned about the people’s welfare,” he said.
Legislative Council and MUIB member Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman attended the weekly Munajat organised by the MoRA.
Meanwhile, congregants from mosques, suraus, the MoRA’s workforce and their family members as well as academic staff and students of Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School and As-Syahadah Muallaf Youth Group from the Islamic Da’wah Centre were also in attendance.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan led the Doa Kesyukuran to mark His Majesty’s 77th birthday.
