Highlighting good health from Islamic perspective

The Side Events Working Committee for the Knowledge Convention 2020 organised a forum on ‘Sunnah Diet’ at The Airport Mall yesterday in conjunction with the Knowledge Convention 2020.

Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Ra’es Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar and Senior Nutritionist at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Hajah Nurasma Aini binti Haji Mat Yassin were the panellists at the forum.

Assistant Lecturer of the Usuluddin Faculty at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Haji Khairul Nazif bin Haji Damit was the moderator.

The forum was aimed at raising awareness of the importance of health from the Islamic perspective.

Permanent Secretary (Security, Enforcement and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Muhamad Sazali bin Pengiran Haji Yakob was the guest of honour.

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the MoH Dr Haji Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul Latif was also present.

In the afternoon session, Associate Specialist and Head of Disease Control at the MoH Dr Justin Wong delivered a public talk entitled ‘Prevention of COVID-19 and COVID-19 Vaccine’.

The forum, in conjunction with Knowledge Convention 2020, was held jointly by the MoH, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), UNISSA and KUPU SB under the Working Committee of Side Events at for the Knowledge Convention 2020.

Several forums and exhibitions will also be held at mosques, community halls and shopping complexes in the four districts from January to February.

The next event will be a forum on ‘Obese & Diabetes: Remember Before You Get It’ at Setia Ali Mosque in Pekan Muara, open to the public today.

Additionally, health-related exhibitions, health screenings and quizzes will also be held.

Information on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), how to lead a healthy lifestyle and maintain good health according to the Sunnah, as well as free health check-up are available during the exhibition at The Airport Mall today.
