Higher Education Expo open to local, foreign students

THE 4th Higher Education Expo 2019 will provide post-secondary and pre-university students an opportunity to interact with education institutions, said representative of Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and Scholarship Section and Head of Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education Siti Zuliana binti Haji Abdul Samad.

She made this statement at a press conference for the expo yesterday.

Co-chairmen of the Higher Education Expo 2019 Acting Director of Brunei Technical Education and Chief Executive Officer of IBTE Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli and Head of Scholarship Section Ministry of Education Julaihi bin Mohamat were also present.

She added that the expo, which will be held from 9am until 5pm on February 16 and 17 at BRIDEX Hall in Jerudong, will serve as a venue for professional practitioners to exchange views with experts from other institutions

Thirteen public and private higher level education institutes, 21 international universities and colleges, 12 governmental agencies and departments, eight local and international educational services agencies as well as representatives from foreign missionaries will participate in the expo.

The expo aims to be ‘one-stop information centre on higher education’, gathering education institutions and agencies to provide a view of the country’s post-secondary and higher education landscape.

“The expo will act as an information-sharing platform for government and private higher education institutions to display and share the programmes offered as well as criteria and process of student entry,” said Siti Zuliana.

She added that the expo is open to the public, specifically post-secondary and pre-university students – ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level school leavers or students with equivalent qualifications, who wish to continue their studies to a higher level such as NTec, HNTec, Level 3, 4 and 5 diplomas, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and PhD programmes, as well as those wishing to develop their skills and professional capabilities.

“The expo is open to local and foreign students,” she said.

Parking and shuttle bus service facilities will be provided at the Jerudong Park Playground parking area.
