HER Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman attended the 4th Brunei Open & Masters 7-9 Years Old Swimming Championships yesterday to watch Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah binti Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah compete at the International School Brunei (ISB).

Also present were Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim ibni Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah and Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda Muhammad Aiman ibni Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah, competing under the banner of Hammerhead Swimming Club clinched two gold medals in the Girls 8 Year Old 25 SC (Short Course) -metre backstroke and 25-metre breaststroke events with a time of 25.33s and 26.94s, respectively.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah also snatched three silver in the 25-metre butterfly, 25-metre freestyle and 50-metre freestyle as well as bronze in the Girls 6-9 Years Old 100-metre freestyle relay events.

The Hammerhead Swimming Club led by Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah finished the race with a time of 1:35.08. The team also featured Elsa Corlett, Eloise Foray and Mahdiya Townsend.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah’s medal foray allowed her to set three new personal bests in the 25-metre butterfly, 25-metre backstroke and 25-metre breaststroke events. She sets a revised time of 25.15s in the 25-metre butterfly, eclipsing her old mark of 27.27s and made a timing adjustment in the 25-metre backstroke with a time of 25.33s, besting her old time of 25.41s.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah improved her time in the 25-metre breaststroke with 26.94s, bettering her old mark of 28.70s.

Meanwhile, Peak Performance Swimming Club finished on top of the medal tally after accumulating 14 gold, eight silver and 11 bronze. Labuan International School finished second with a haul of five gold medals while Miri Amateur Swimming Association came third with four gold, five silver and three bronze.

The competition was organised by the Brunei Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) and supported by the Department of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
