The Ministry of Health (MoH) received donations of medical supplies and medical equipment worth USD1 million from Zhejiang Hengyi Group Co Ltd as part of Hengyi’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) to assist the government in tackling the COVID-19 outbreak in Brunei.

Chief Executive Officer of Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd Chen Lian Cai presented the donation to Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar during a handover ceremony yesterday.

Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Ministry of Energy Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya also attended.

The donations, which will come in batches, are being shipped directly to Brunei Darussalam from China. The first batch, scheduled to arrive next week, will include five ventilators and 50 units of electric hospital beds to be distributed to hospitals and isolation centres next week. Other medical supplies and equipment will come in different batches.

Hengyi Group hopes the donations will help provide additional support to the MoH in handling the pandemic.
