Helping hand for underprivileged in Temburong, Brunei-Muara

In the framework of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Baiduri Bank’s first two events of the annual ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ series saw the distribution of donations to 30 underprivileged families in Temburong and Brunei-Muara Districts yesterday.

The families were identified through the Department of Community Development (JAPEM), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).

A handover ceremony was held at StoneVille Hotel in Bangar Town, Temburong. Head of Group Corporate Communications Department Dorothy Newn presented the cash donations.

“Our ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ event is hoped to bring joy and immediate relief for these selected families, especially in this trying time of COVID-19. With Hari Raya just around the corner, we hope that these cash donations can help these families prepare for the upcoming festivities.”

Speaking on the different format of the event this year, Newn said, “In the past years, our Ramadhan event comprised group shopping activity as well as a breaking of the fast. But in observing the guidelines set out by the Ministry of Health (MoH), the ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ this time has been simplified for the health and safety of everyone involved.”

A handover of shopping voucher was also held at Baiduri Bank’s Kiarong branch for recipients in the Brunei-Muara district in the afternoon. Kiarong Branch Manager for Baiduri Bank Evan Wong presented the donations.

The ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ series aims to provide relief for underprivileged families in the four districts in the form of cash or shopping vouchers in preparation for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The next two events will be held today in Tutong and Belait Districts.
