Helping hand for frontline workers

The Red Cross Society Singapore contributed 100,000 KN95 face masks to the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BRC) as an initiative by the association to ensure the safety and well-being of government agencies.

The face masks were distributed during a ceremony at the CEE Event Hall of the PGGMB building in the capital, in the presence of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin yesterday.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by BRC President Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yussof bin Pengiran Haji Bahar.

The Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force, Immigration and National Registration Department, Royal Customs and Excise Department and Municipal Department each received 5,000 masks.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) as well as Prisons Department, Mosque Affairs Department, Islamic Studies Department and Department of Schools and The National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) each received 10,000 face masks.

BRC’s strategic partner, Makan Ceria Sdn Bhd, received 5,000 masks.

The MoHA will distribute its masks among the four districts.

The contribution’s main objective was to ensure frontline workers are protected from COVID-19 while carrying out their duties in public.

The BRC expressed its appreciation to the Red Cross Society Singapore for the contribution.

The ceremony also saw the presentation of certificates of appreciation to 120 BRC members and volunteers who participated in the BRC march-past group and first aid medic group on duty during His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 76th birthday celebration at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital.
