The Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered three local men to settle a BND23,000 fine each for possessing smuggled alcoholic beverages.
Mohammad Aiman Asraff bin Haji Majid, 22, Awangku Abdullah bin Pengiran Jafar, 23, and Ampuan Muhammad Yussof bin Ampuan Ali Omar, 22, would have to serve 13 months’ jail in default of payment.
Magistrate Nur Eleana binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Hairol Arni was informed by the Customs Prosecutor that Temburong police found the defendants in possession of 148 bottles of various liquor at Kampong Meniup jetty in the Temburong District at 6.59pm on November 2, 2020.
The court ordered the seized contraband forfeited to the state for disposal.
