The Ministry of Health (MoH), through its Health Promotion Centre (HPC), implemented a Healthy Dining Programme in collaboration with several food outlets, which also include juice outlets to boost the availability of healthy drink options.
The programme was launched yesterday at The Energy Juice Shop in Jalan Batu Bersurat, by HPC Head Dr Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Md Kassim.
A certificate of participation was presented to Henry Chan, the owner of The Energy Juice Shop, to officiate the launching of the programme.
The programme aims to create a local market that is conducive to healthy eating choices, in addition to fostering the custom and practice of healthy food choices among restaurant and café owners, managers and customers.
With the launch of the programme at The Energy Juice Shop, it is hoped that other food outlets, particularly juice or drinks outlets will also participate and become key partners in supporting healthy eating initiatives in Brunei Darussalam, in helping to achieve the MoH’s 2035 Vision of ‘Together Towards a Healthy Nation’.
All participating food outlets must fulfil the HPC criteria in serving at least 25 per cent of a healthier choice menu, while participating juice outlets must serve drinks with less than 250kcal.
The juice outlets must also serve customers with healthier food options in moderate portions, cater towards less sugar requests and allow customers to choose this option from the existing menu list. Beverages or juices that are considered as healthier will be labelled with a Healthier Choice Logo on the menu.
All participating juice outlets will also receive the support and assistance from the HPC, in producing healthier drink options as one of the Healthier Choice partners.
