Health programme returns with cycling race

The Happy Environment and Lifestyle (HEAL) programme recently returned with a circuit cycling race at Mukim Pengkalan Batu.

The event was organised by the Mukim Pengkalan Batu Cycling Team (MPBCT), one of the Physical Activity Ambassadors of the programme.

The early morning race comprised six 19 kilometres lap (114 kilometres total) and was participated by around 100 cyclists across a number of categories.

The winner of the Team category was Wakanda Cycling Team, while second and third places were bagged by Amigos and Anak Brunei Cycling Team (ABCT).

Individual category winners include Haji Abdul Malik bin Haji Zaini (Male Novice), Mohd Azwar bin Mohd Hairolrani (Male Elite-Master) and Pengiran Nizam (Male Veteran).

The winner for Women’s Category was Alisa Lau Hui Na.

A special prize was also given to 70-year-old Haji Osli bin Mohd Nor.

The event aimed at encouraging the local residents to adopt a healthy lifestyle by engaging in sports and leisure activities.

Participants were required to screen for COVID-19 using an antigen rapid test (ART) kit 10 hours before arriving at an event while also following Ministry of Health (MoH) guidelines.

The HEAL Programme a collaboration between the Health Promotion Centre, MoH and Gleneagles JPMC Sdn Bhd that began in 2019, aims at raising awareness of health benefits of regular physical activity in the community.
