Islam recognises health as a basic need rather than a luxury for everyone, said Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman during a special talk for the Knowledge Convention 2020 at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque yesterday.
The minister said, “Brunei Darussalam is grateful for the blessings of health, as a gift from Allah the Almighty. In word and deed, it is clear that our country does not deny the benefits of health.
“For nearly 70 years the country has witnessed a growing and developing health sector, in terms of infrastructure, as well as the range of services and treatments provided. We also have a number of local doctors, some of whom are specialists.
“Our gratitude to Allah the Almighty also includes living in Brunei Darussalam under the wise guidance and leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam as our Wali al-Amri.
“His Majesty has implemented services for the welfare of the people, while developing the country’s economy and paying close attention to building human capital among the new generation in various fields, including religion.”
