The two-day open day event is part of the rebranding of Panaga Health Centre into Panaga Health slated for August 2021. However, the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, pushed the schedule as the centre shifted its focus to aid in the crisis at the time, said Chief Medical Officer of Panaga Health Dr Haji Ahmad Fakhri bin Dato Paduka Haji Junaidi.

He said this in his opening speech at the launching of the centre’s open day event yesterday.

“Seeing a window of opportunity in March this year to rebrand the centre, we decided to push ahead with the rebranding launch, but as the COVID-19 was still looming large and the restriction in place at the time, we decided to wait to have the open day until now,” he said.

Acting Belait District Officer Mohammad Yassin bin Haji Ahmed, who officiated the launching, was welcomed by Dr Haji Ahmad Fakhri.

Shell Country Chair in Brunei Darussalam and Managing Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) Agnete Johnsgaard-Lewis, business and healthcare partners as well as medical officers from Panaga Health were also in attendance. Dr Haji Ahmad Fakhri hoped that the open day event will provide opportunities for Panaga Health to showcase the centre’s service to the Brunei Shell community and the public.

“The event’s activities will allow the public to engage with our health professionals and to view first-hand the facilities,” he added.

Following the speech, the event proceeded with the ribbon-cutting by the guest of honour followed by a tour around the facilities.
