Team Honor, with their ‘Our Langkah’ project, emerged champion in the Tech4Good competition in the Huawei ‘Seed for the Future’ programme yesterday.

The team comprised students from a number of higher education institutions.

Team Honor representatives Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) undergraduate of Energy Systems Engineering Valarie Wong Jia Wen and UBD undergraduate of Bachelor of Engineering (General Engineering) Muhammad Rafie Amir Zaki said, “The project is an application that convert steps into crypto currency to promote a healthy lifestyle and combat obesity in the country. The crypto currency can also be donated to charities in multiple donation platforms.

“The idea came from our team members. There are eight members and we compiled our ideas and chose the ones the most suitable.”

Valarie said, “We are honoured to have won this round of the Tech4Good competition.

“However, we will not develop the application further and will not be joining the Tech4Good Global Competition due to commitment from studies.”

On the Huawei ‘Seed for the Future’ programme, Muhammad Rafie Amir Zaki said, “It is commendable for Huawei to organise this programme to help us develop skills and polish our information and communications technology (ICT) talents.

“The competition is a great platform for us to obtain advice from outside the countries to improve our ideas.”
