The hard work has paid off for 113 Youth Development Centre (PPB) graduates as they received certificates from Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad during a convocation ceremony at the centre yesterday.

Noorsaleenah binti Sarkawi @ Suzihana from the Basic Course in Fashion was presented the Excellent Trainee Award 2022 in recognition of her academic excellence and efforts.

Of the total, 93 were trainees from the the January 2020 session and 10 from the Community Programme – PPB-Aewon Tailoring Course 2020. Meanwhile, seven were from the Community Programme – Heavy Machinery Driver Course ABDB-PPB 2022 and three were from the Community Programme – Slaughtering and Butchering Plus Course Year 2022.

Congratulating the trainees, the minister highlighted that the convocation is proof “while learning a new skill may not be easy, nothing is impossible if graduates work hard and are determined to succeed”.

Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi applauded PPB’s continuous efforts to ensure the skill training offered is market-driven for long- and short-term courses. This includes the latest initiative, a PPB-private sector initiative for the introduction of the Community Programme – Atelier Fashion and Apparel Design Course, which began this year.

He was pleased to note that PPB continues to expand its scope of services to cover reskilling training and incubator facilitators for PPB’s entrepreneurs alumni and targetted groups.

This is in alignment with PPB’s new vision ‘Empowering Community Towards Excellence’ that hopes to strengthen the centre’s role in life-long learning initiatives and towards becoming an inclusive centre of excellence.

Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi urged the centre to continue such efforts and to increase cooperation with strategic partners such as the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC), Manpower Industry Steering Committee (MISC), Job Centre, other education institutions and industries, so as to continue producing marketable graduates.
