Hari Raya celebrations continue

MORE than 100 villagers attended a Hari Raya celebration at Mukim Kilanas Community Hall organised by the Mukim Kilanas Consultative Council aimed to foster closer ties between the residences.

Member of the Legislative Council Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Haji Hasrin bin Dato Paduka Haji Sabtu was the guest of honour.

The ceremony also coincided with the presentation of souvenirs to former penghulus and village heads of Mukim Kilanas.

Activites included lucky draw and a singing contest.

Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam

THE Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam (PABD) hosted an Astronomy Talk and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at Rasa Ceria in Telanai recently.

The event aimed to foster camaraderie spirit among members and partnership opportunities with government agencies.

PABD President Haji Mahadi bin Haji Mohd Tahir was the guest of honour. Strategic partners from several government agencies, PABD members and astronomy enthusiasts were also present.

Executive member of PABD Md Qawiem bin Haji Md Jamil spoke on ‘Why Astronomy? The societal impacts of uncovering the mysteries of the universe’.

The presentation covered potential benefits and impacts of astronomy.

A meeting to discuss the preparation of upcoming events; the July 17 Partial Lunar Eclipse observation and implementation of major astronomical activities such as Orionids Meteor Shower camping in October and Annular Solar Eclipse expedition to Kuching in December was also held.

The mission of the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam is to encourage and support programmes on astronomy (including Falak Syarie) and related sciences for the education and enlightenment of the general public.

Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh

GHK Motors Sdn Bhd through the Eric Goh Kiat Yong Trust Fund organised a Hari Raya open house celebration for the students, instructors, parents and guardians of Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh recently.

Director of GHK Motors Jake Goh attended the event held at the compound of the centre at Jalan Pandan.

Also present were Community Development Department (JAPEM) Officer Irnawati binti Haji Mahik, who was representing Assistant Director of the Special Needs Division of JAPEM Abdul Rahman bin Haji Apong, senior officers from the Community Development Department, and Islamic Studies Department.

The event began with a series of song and dance performances by the students and instructors of Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh, followed by the handing of green packets by the guest of honour to the students.

The event served to foster closer ties between the students, parents and instructors.

BTOP Motors, sales and maintenance services for Honda Motorcycles hosted a Hari Raya open office for its customers and corporate acquaintances as well as staff and management at its showroom in Kampong Beribi recently.

Members of the Veteran Motorcycle Club (VMC) and Honda Mini Motorcycle Club (HMMC) participated.

Marketing Manager Narawi bin Merusin said the event was held to establish and strengthen ties between the management and its customers as well as the Honda motorcycles club during the festive season.

“This is also to show our appreciation to our customers who have been very supportive for the past years.

“This is the time that we get to meet Honda motorcycle club members to catch up and share knowledge and riding adventure experiences,” he said.

HMMC has 100 members comprising young motorcycle enthusiasts while VMC has 40 members.

Sayyidina Husain Secondary School

THE students and teachers of Sayyidina Husain Secondary School celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri at the school’s multipurpose hall recently.

The school’s Principal Dayangku Nooramaliatifah binti Pengiran Haji Ahmad, teachers, staff members as well as members of the organising committee were present.

The celebration began with the recitation of Doa Selamat followed by stage performances by students. Raya quizzes and Best Dressed competition were held.

The event continued with a get-together session and guests enjoyed a buffet spread of Raya food and drinks.

Timeless Zone Café

TIMELESS Zone Café feted Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam students with a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at the café in Kiulap recently.

Some 30 students and staff members of the early, middle and upper classes of Pusat Ehsan attended the event.

A donation presentation was also held by the owner of Timeless Zone Café Hajah Hasnah binti Haji Ismail to the representative of Pusat Ehsan Lovella Depala and green packets presentation to the students.

Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam

PUSAT Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Kuala Belait branch had received a donation from MC Maju Cold Storage, in order to kick-start the phase two of the building and completion of the new classrooms, which will help provide a more comfortable learning experience for all the students of the centre.

This was announced during the annual Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration held at the centre recently. Representatives from various agencies, organisations, and companies who had provided aid to the centre were present. They were welcomed by Belait Branch Manager of Pusat Ehsan Hamimah binti Haji Sapar.

Among the representative of the various agencies, organisations and companies present were owner of Buccaneer Restaurant, Kuala Belait Elaine Tong; Syarikat Seri Ladang, Kuala Belait Agie Su; and Managing Director of MC Maju Cold Storage Sylvia Liew. Chairman of the centre’s Family Support Group (KSK) Reduan bin Duraman said the celebration is carried out annually together with all the parents and guardians as well as those who had lend aid to the centre.

The event continued with various performances by the students as well as parents and guardians.

Students of the centre also received gifts sponsored by agencies involved during the celebration.

Indian Association of Belait (IAB)

THE Indian Association of Belait (IAB) organised a Hari Raya Open House for Belait residents at IAB Hall, Seria recently.

Over 150 residents attended the event. The attendees were welcomed by IAB Committee members who shared with the residents about the past activities of the association.

The association will be celebrating its 70th anniversary and looks forward to serve the community celebrating both India’s and Brunei’s culture.

The Hari Raya open house is organised annually by IAB’s Social and Welfare section to celebrate the festive occasion and to foster goodwill among community members.

IN THE spirit of caring and sharing during the month of Syawal, Mobile World Enterprise brought cheers to 30 orphans from the Tutong District with a Hari Raya celebration held at its premise in Gadong yesterday.

Managing Director of Mobile World Enterprise Zubaidah binti Zainoh also participated.

The event began with the recitation of Doa. Managing Director of Mobile World Enterprise presentated green packets and gifts to the orphans.

The children were treated to a Raya buffet spread and had the opportunity to mingle with one another.

The event made the festive month enjoyable for the children and raised awareness among the public to help the orphans.

THE Brunei Darussalam Amateur Radio Association (BDARA) held a Hari Raya gathering at Mulia Hotel recently.

Seventy members attended the function including members of amateur radio from Sabah.

Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) School

THE Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) School in Kampong Sungai Akar organised a Hari Raya celebration recently.

Attended by the students, parents as well as teachers, the event took place at the school’s multipurpose hall.

Director of Marketing and Public Relations at the YMRM Enterprise Abdul Hamid bin Abas was the guest of honour.

The celebration began with the singing of the national anthem Allah Peliharakan Sultan and PGGMB Song Semangat Guru.

It continued with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Mohd Fakhrul Ameen bin Abdullah from Year 6 Green.

Various performances by the students were held.

The guest of honour presented prizes for Best Dressed for teachers and students, Best Decorative Booth, and Best students performance competition.

The event concluded with a get-together session.
