The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) held a Korban ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha at the ministry’s lobby area of the new extension building yesterday.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was the guest of honour who distributed the Korban meat to participants and selected recipients among the officers and staff of the ministry.
The minister also handed over sacrificial meat to the heads of delegation who will later distribute to 249 underprivileged families across the four districts.
The distribution was held at Mukim Berakas ‘A’ by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang and senior officers from the ministry. Youth under the Youth Religious Programme of the MoRA were also involved in the distribution.
This year’s event was organised by the Policy, Planning and Research Division, Building and Maintenance Division, International and MABIMS Division as well as the Public Relations Division of the ministry.
Seven cows were sacrificed during the ceremony.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohammed Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, officers and staff of the ministry were also present.
Ministry of Defence
The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) held a Korban and Aqiqah ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha yesterday.
Meat from nine buffaloes and six goats was distributed at Surau Ad-Difa, Bolkiah Garrison.
The meat was distributed to 50 underprivileged individuals, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) personnel and civilian staff of MinDef.
Officials from the ministry also delivered sacrificial meat to the homes of orphans and underprivileged living in the vicinity of Bolkiah Garrison.
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was at the event.
Acting Commander of the RBAF Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, Permanent Secretary at the MinDef Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah and two RBAF personnel and two civilian MinDef personnel were also present.
Similar Korban and Aqiqah events were held throughout the RBAF military camps and garrisons involving 34 buffaloes and 16 goats.
Ministry of Health
The Ministry of Health (MoH) held a Korban ceremony that saw nine cows sacrificed and the meat distributed to 120 recipients comprising staff at the ministry.

Permanent Secretary at the MoH Haji Abdul Manap bin Othman, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the MoH Pengiran Dr Haji Mohd Khalifah bin Pengiran Haji Ismail, officers and staff at the ministry were also present.
The minister, permanent secretary and acting deputy permanent secretary handed over the sacrificial meat via drive-through method at Al-‘Afiah Hall of the MoH.
It was organised by Administration and Finance (Procurement) Department and Project Development and Estate Management Division of the Ministry of Health.
Ministry of Energy
The Ministry of Energy held a Korban ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha at East Wing Conference Hall, Prime Minister’s Office Building Complex, yesterday.
Acting Minister of Energy Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw was the guest of honour.
Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Ministry of Energy Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy and Power) at the Ministry of Energy Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra, officers and staff from the ministry, Department of Electrical Services (DES), Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) and Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam were also present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Takbir led by Mosque Affairs Officer at Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Malik Mosque Morni bin Haji Nayan. It was followed by the distribution of sacrificial meat to 20 recipients comprising the ministry’s staff as well as underprivileged individuals residing in Mukim Berakas.
The remaining meat was delivered to residences of 65 less-fortunate individuals.
Three buffaloes were sacrificed for this year’s event. The event was co-organised by the ministry’s Strategic Planning Unit and SHENA.
