DPMM FC are keen to tie their ‘B’ team star Hanif Farhan Azman to a new contract as one of the fresh faces of the newly assembled team ahead of the Singapore Premier League (SPL) season at the end of this month.

The young forward, who helped guide his team to the Brunei Premier League title in the country’s second tier last year, has impressed head coach Adrian Pennock during the trials.

“Farhan has come in as a left winger and I moved him into centre midfield. He is very busy and he likes to tackle. He’s good with the ball and has done exceptionally well in pre-season,” said Pennock in an interview after a training session at the Jerudong Mini Stadium yesterday.

He added, “He shines for me. Obviously, he’s just come up from the under-21s in DPMM FC which I’m very pleased with.”

The 19-year-old is set to join the likes of Azim Izamuddin Suhaimi, Wafi Aminuddin and Hakeme Yazid bin Said in recent times to be promoted from the ‘B’ team.

Hakeme Yazid, who just turned 17 last week, is the club’s hottest prospect and will be part of the team this year.

“Keme (Hakeme) has got lot of energy and pace and is a very good finisher. He has a good career in front of him. He does things properly being a good professional.”

“All local players in all pre-season games have done what I expect them to do and that’s to work very hard and got fitter and stronger. They listened so I’m very pleased with every one.”

The club are also close to signing Brazilian goalkeeper Emerson Jose as they completed their search for the remaining foreign import alongside the returning Charlie Clough and Andrei Varankou.

“I’m looking for him to sign but the management and his agent have to agree and go from there. Hopefully, he will sign very soon,” said Pennock whose side will attend a contract signing for players and sponsors at the Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong today.

The club have also completed their search of a deputy goalkeeper following the exits of Haimie Anak Nyaring and Ishyra Asmin Jabidi with MS ABDB’s Azriel Arman set to sign for the club.

Azriel is likely to provide cover behind Emerson and goalkeeping veteran Wardun Yussof.

Former DPMM FC goalkeeper Pengiran Muizzuddin bin Pengiran Ismail has earlier been linked with a return to the club also having a look at MS ABDB’s star Hariz Danial Khallidden.
