Haj pilgrims receive donations

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) yesterday held a Doa Selamat ceremony for officers and personnel who are set to perform the Haj pilgrimage for 1443 Hijrah at Citra Budaya Hall of the ministry.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad attended as the guest of honour.

The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Selawat Tafrijiyyah led by Assistant Religious Development at the Youth Development Centre Muhammad Nabil bin Haji Roslan, followed by the presentation of donations to intending pilgrims by the minister.

Five officers and personnel of the MCYS will perform their Haj pilgrimage this year.

The ceremony concluded with the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam and Doa Selamat for intending pilgrims as well as Doa against disasters and disease outbreaks, especially COVID-19.

Also in attendance were Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) at the MCYS Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud; Permanent Secretary (Strategy and Policy Management) at the MCYS Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan; Permanent Secretary (Community and Culture) at the MCYS Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah as well as head of departments and senior officials and officers.

A similar ceremony was organised by the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) at its headquarters’ surau on Friday. On hand to present the contributions was its Acting Director Lim Hock Guan.

The recipients were two officers – FRD Assistant Director of Technical Nohi Irwan Surkarki bin Haji Pawi and Hall Officer, Operation ‘F’ Branch F Haji Saman bin Haji Saidin – and a staff member, Operation ‘F’ Branch cook Ruhil Alina binti Haji Samny.

Also present at the ceremony were senior officers, officers, members and staff of the FRD.
