Guidebook featuring Thai restaurants in Brunei launched

HER Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the launching ceremony for the Guidebook of Thai Restaurants in Brunei Darussalam at the Royal Thai Embassy in Brunei Darussalam’s Chancery in Kampong Kiarong yesterday afternoon.

Accompanying Her Royal Highness was Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara.

Ambassador of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam Wanthanee Viputwongsakul and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy in Brunei Darussalam welcomed Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna on arrival.

“The Royal Thai Embassy is proud to present the Guidebook of Thai Restaurants in Brunei Darussalam which features 13 of the best Thai restaurants and their signature dishes, including tom yum kung, pad thai and papaya salad,” Wanthanee Viputwongsakul said.

“The guidebook also serves as recognition of quality Thai restaurants and a show of support to Thai chefs in Brunei Darussalam.”

The ambassador continued, “The launch of the guidebook is also one of the embassy’s projects for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Brunei Darussalam.

“It is our hope that the guidebook will help promote Thailand-Brunei relations through food diplomacy as well as through the recognition for quality Thai restaurants in Brunei Darussalam, in particular the support for Thai chefs who are working hard in Brunei.”

Following the ambassador’s speech, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna toured the stalls serving a variety of Thai dishes and delicacies featured in the Guidebook of Thai Restaurants in Brunei Darussalam.

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna also received a souvenir from the Thai Ambassador prior to the conclusion of the ceremony.

Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia​ Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, as well as officials from various government agencies and members of the Diplomatic Corps were also present.
