Poni Group marked its 15th anniversary with the signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with international industry leaders, reinforcing its commitment to Brunei’s net zero goals. The partnerships, aimed at advancing sustainability and decarbonisation efforts, will leverage the group’s innovation hub, ASTARI, to offer solutions in ESG consulting, carbon emission reporting and offsetting, and climate change resilience.
The first MoU, signed with Jejakin from Indonesia, focuses on digital solutions for carbon emission tracking and nature-based carbon credit monitoring, including tree and coral planting. The second agreement with EG Engineering from the United Kingdom introduces decarbonisation and vessel optimisation technology for the maritime and industrial sectors.
A third MoU, with Earth Sight International from Canada, provides climate resilience tools using artificial intelligence-based satellite data for flood and wildfire forecasting.
Chief Executive Officer of Poni Group Mohd Tahsin Wong Abdullah, expressed pride in these collaborations, emphasising their alignment with Brunei Vision 2035 goals, particularly in climate resilience and green technology development. The event also saw the pre-announcement of ASTARI, the group’s new division that will spearhead innovative solutions for businesses across Southeast Asia to adopt sustainable practices and reduce environmental impact.
Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin attended the signing ceremony. Representatives from various embassies in the Sultanate were also present.
