Green jewel hosts royal get-together

People from all walks of life gathered at the field of Community Hall Complex at Pekan Bangar, Temburong District yesterday, for the get-together ceremony with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

On touching down at the Pekan Bangar helipad, His Majesty was greeted by Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong as the Chairman of the National Executive Committee for His Majesty’s 75th birthday celebration.

Also greeting the royal arrival were the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF); Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF); permanent secretaries; deputy permanent secretary and acting deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA); and Acting Temburong District Officer Pengiran Muhammad Ameer Mubarak bin Pengiran Haji Hashim.

Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

On arrival, His Majesty and other members of the royal family consented to a group photo with the executive committee members at the official residence of the Acting Temburong District Officer, followed by the signing of the commemorative plaque.

The route to the Belalong Community Hall Complex was lined with students from Sultan Hassan Bangar Primary School and Sultan Hassan Bangar Secondary School, waving miniature national flags, bearing brightly-coloured bunga manggar and performing the hadrah to welcome the arrival of His Majesty and members of the royal family.

His Majesty’s arrival at the royal dais was greeted with the singing of the national anthem by a choir group of 40 students from Rataie Primary School and Temburong Arabic Preparatory School, to the accompaniment of the RBPF band.

His Majesty and members of the royal family then consented to watch a colourful special performance titled Raja Kesayangan Rakyat, featuring 375 students from Rataie Primary School and Sultan Hassan Bangar Secondary School.

The performance culminated with a shout of ‘Daulat Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik’ by students from Temburong Arabic Preparatory School, led by Haikal Fawwaz bin Zunaidi.

His Majesty and other members of the royal family then consented to a get-together with members of the executive committee, the royal birthday celebration committee, penghulus, participants in the special performance, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and the citizens and residents of Temburong District.

His Majesty also consented to receive several pesambah, in addition to witnessing cultural displays by participating mukim residents in the district.

His Majesty signed a plaque at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) booth and consented to receive a book titled Jambatan Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien: Menyatukan Brunei dan Rakyat/Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge: Uniting Brunei and its People, published by the Information Department under the PMO in collaboration with Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD).

Seventy exhibition booths were especially set up for the event, including those by members of the Retired Personnel of the RBPF Association (POLSARA), army veterans, the Temburong Senior Citizens Activity Centre, National Service Programme (PKBN) alumni, associations, mosque Takmir committees, organisations, Muslim converts, and private companies.

Following the get-together, His Majesty and other members were ushered for Santap and cake-cutting ceremony at the Main Hall of the Community Hall Complex, where His Majesty was greeted at the entrance with a gulintangan performance by members of the Permata Hijau Youth Club.

To bless the ceremony, a Doa Selamat was recited by Judge of the Syariah Subordinate Court Ustaz Pengiran Shahril Azman bin Pengiran Haji Metussin.

Prior to departure, His Majesty consented to a get-together ceremony with the executive committee members and special guests.
