Goodfellas come on top at DST Carnival Cup

The DST Carnival 2020 which attracted a steady flow of visitors throughout the weekend ended on a high note yesterday.

One of the highlights during the two-day carnival was the Carnival Cup, an E-Sports gaming tournament series with BND15,000 prize pool – the largest sum of prize in Brunei to date.

The gaming competition was jointly organised by the E-Sports Association of Brunei and DST. About 250 seasonal and professional gamers battled for supremacy and bragging rights for five games contested, namely: FIFA 2020, Tekken 7, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends and CS: GO.

Top winners from the Carnival Cup were awarded during a ceremony at BRIDEX Hall 2 yesterday.

Chief Executive Officer of DST Radin Sufri bin Radin Basiuni presented the prizes.

The team from Goodfellas Gaming brought home a BND2,000 cash prize after winning the top spot in CS:GO. Meanwhile, their counterpart competing in Mobile Legends also triumphed and won BND1,250 for first place.

Winning the BND1,250 cash prize in PUBG Mobile was the team from Woish eSport.

The champion of Tekken 7 went to Extreme Hafiy, while Adib Sazali won the FIFA 2020 tournament.

Each player receive BND800 cash prize.

Goodfellas Gaming expressed their joy of being the champions of the grand prize of BND2,000 from the game CS: GO. Prior to Carnival Cup, DST had a Pilot Cup organised by the E-Sports Association of Brunei. The Pilot Cup continued for two days with over a hundred gamers competing in the games; DOTA 2, Mobile Legends and Tekken 5 over the prize pool of BND3,000.

“We supported athletes and warriors on the field and now we are working with the very newly established E-Sports Community of Brunei,” said Chief Executive Officer of DST Radin Sufri bin Radin Basiuni.

Apart from the eSporting events, visitors were able to enjoy local live performances by local artistes featuring Kip Hafizuddin, Ezah Hashim and FN Duo Saturday and Sunday.

The Comedy Night presenting local stand-up comedians from BruHaHa; Najib, Tibby, Aiman and Loh was among the attractions.

The DST Carnival 2020 was timely as it was also an opportunity for telco to promote their recently launched products and services offerings to the public.

Customers also received awards and prizes by participating in the DST Lucky Draw questionnaire.
