I MUST offer kudos to the Department of Electrical Services (DES) for a job well done on June 11, 2017. At 6.30am, the electricity in our residence went out.
We soon realised that only our house was affected.
We thought the power card meter had run out of credit, so we topped up but the $50 credit that we added was erased. We complained to 123.
Though it was a Sunday, the DES subcontractor came out within an hour.
The guy took photographs of the damaged main meter outside the house which was the real source of the problem.
The electricity was restored about five hours later at 11.30am.
They gave us $100 credit in the new power card meter.
Then the new meter had to be connected online to the central grid.
They call it “activated”.
That took another eight hours. After the breaking of fast, the meter was connected to the central grid at 7.30pm and all ended well.
Yes, the problem was resolved within a day. Thirteen hours might seem a long time but considering it was a Sunday, the middle of the fasting month and the impending public holiday was looming – it was a job well done.
Congratulations to all at 123, and the subcontractor for the good work.
The Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, can truly be proud of your DES people.
