Going digital may shorten queue for passport renewal

Due to the easing of restrictions for cross-border travel, there has been a huge spike in passport renewal applications.

The authorities, especially for the renewal of travel documents, must be pretty busy and overwhelmed.

It is disturbing to see the long queue at all immigration centres and hear that people show up as early as 5.30am just to be able to get their travel documents renewed.

Can the authorities come up with a solution to counter the surge in applications, such as having a drop box for people to leave their application forms?

Or better yet, consider having online application as an option to ensure less crowding at public buildings, as countless countries have implemented and embraced.

With the world moving towards a digital future, perhaps it’s time to follow suit.
