Brunei’s top five blood donors received commemorative gifts and pouches at a blood donation drive to mark World Blood Donor Day 2022 yesterday.

Meanwhile, over 80 pints of blood were collected during the campaign organised by Mabohai Shopping Complex in collaboration with the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital Blood Donation Centre.

Haji Abdullah bin Haji Munchit, Haji Moksin bin Haji Karim, Haji Rosli bin Haji Abdul Ghani, Major (Rtd) Haji Idris bin Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Haji Othman and Tung Yiu Hung received commemorative gifts of official Sttoke cups and pouches from event partner and sponsor @kedaiku.bn.

Haji Abdullah has donated blood 193 times, while Haji Moksin 156 times, Haji Rosli 155 times, Major (Rtd) Haji Idris 152 times and Tung 150 times.

Mabohai Shopping Complex Manager Yee-Man Cheng thanked the donors for making regular blood donations as they have set an example for others to follow.

Cheng also extended his appreciation to the Blood Donation Centre team for their support.

“We are honoured to recognise the top five blood donors of Brunei Darussalam. Their generosity stretches from decades, with some beginning blood donation as early as the age of 19.”

World Blood Donor Day is celebrated every June 14. Themed ‘Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives’, the day aims to draw attention to the roles that voluntary blood donations play in saving lives and enhancing solidarity within the communities.
