Twenty students from Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Higher Secondary School, accompanied by their principal, deputy principal and two teachers, recently visited the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman.
Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel bin Rashed bin Hashel Al-Maskari, in his presentation, highlighted the Sultanate’s cultural and tourism appeal such as its geographic location, natural beauty and diverse landscapes, as well as its rich culture, history and heritage.
The presentation also explored some of the interesting similarities between the Sultanate of Oman and Brunei Darussalam, such as the monarchy leadership, and other cultural and civilisational traits, which have strengthened the bond between the two countries, enabling the two governments to find common grounds for bilateral cooperation.
The visit was part of the embassy’s efforts to foster ties with the local community within the framework of public diplomacy.
The visit concluded with the ambassador handing over 10 Omani-themed books covering Oman’s history literature, social sciences and culture to the principal, along with goodie bags to the students and staff as tokens of appreciation for the visit.
He hoped that the books would contribute in enriching the teachers and students’ knowledge on the Sultanate of Oman.
