‘Get to know ASEAN’ roadshows continue

THE Information Department through its International Affairs Unit as the Secretariat for the Sub-Committee of Information of the ASEAN-COCI continued its series of the ‘Get to know ASEAN’ roadshow.

The roadshow was conducted in three government schools – Menglait Secondary School, Sayyidina Husain Secondary School and Raja Isteri Girls High School (STPRI) as part of efforts to inculcate patriotism and unity among students to appreciate the functions and aims of ASEAN, and strengthen the relationships between the department and community, particularly students.

The talk at Menglait Secondary School was held at Melati Hall attended by Principal Osman bin Rajap and teachers.

Principal Dayangku Hajah Nooramaliatifah binti Pengiran Haji Ahmad was the guest of honour at Sayyidina Husain Secondary School.

A total of 434 students at Menglait Secondary School and 350 students at Sayyidina Husain Secondary School attended the briefing.

At STPRI, the guest of honour was Deputy Principal (Administration) Haji Ismail bin Haji Ibrahim. About 496 students attended the talk.

The event at the schools began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and singing of the national anthem and the ASEAN themed song.

Special Duties Officer Grade II and Head of the International Affairs Unit Abdul Karim bin Hamdan delivered the talk on ‘Get to know ASEAN’ at the schools.

A video clip presentation on ASEAN was presented followed by the ASEAN quiz.

The talk concluded with the presentation of prizes to students who answered the quiz.

The talk was aimed at raising awareness among school students regarding ASEAN and its role in developing the member states.
