Germany is looking forward to further strengthening of Brunei-Germany bilateral relationship and wider regional partnership, said German Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Gerda Winkler.

Winkler said these during a video presentation and luncheon to celebrate 35 years of German Embassy in Brunei Darussalam at Tarindak D’Seni in the capital yesterday.

“Since the establishment of the German Embassy in Brunei, the relations have flourished through a flow of high ranking visits in both directions and in education, technical and engineering, defence, industry and aviation,” she said.

She said the relationship is further embedded through European Union (EU)-ASEAN relations. “The EU is one of ASEAN’s oldest dialogue partners and finally – after many years of consultations and discussions – the relations were elevated to a strategic partnership.

“We look forward to working with Brunei bilaterally and as incoming ASEAN Chair in 2021 for a peaceful, prosperous future of both our regions,” she added.

Exhibitions of the newest additions of the German car industry, as well as photos of visits were showcased at the luncheon.

Attorney General Haji Ahmad bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Laila Setia Bakti Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa, senior govermment officials, top diplomats to Brunei and members of the business community with Germany attended.
