Over the past few years, I have noticed a minority of parliamentarians being increasingly engaged with the wider community through public talks and conferences.
Improvements are needed. However, such openness should be the default expectation, as it is in line with the whole-of-nation approach. As such, I call on parliamentarians to incorporate openness and transparency with the public in their fact-finding missions.
I believe it would draw more public support and trust. It is even more pertinent to be inclusive as our country continues to face great challenges. I am confident that if all parliamentarians create a platform for people to have their say, we will be a step closer to solving the key issues of our time.
